Photos for Elmwood Park, downtown Roanoke and around the library are uploaded. Just waiting on the connections to be accepted by Google. I realized after putting this all together that there were a couple spots I missed, but this is 340 more pictures than there were there to start with. There were also a bunch of kids playing in the fountain by the stage and I already felt creepy enough with this pole on my back.

I went around doing some parks today. Started with Garden City Park mainly for some childhood memories, and it hasn’t changed much other than being neglected. I’ll post the other parks separately once I get them uploaded. This one was 125 pictures and I connected it with Garden City Elementary playground as well. For some reason, as the 23rd, some of the pictures are still “maps rejected” and missing connections.

Took a walk with the kids around Vic Thomas Park and part of the Roanoke River Greenway. This time I took 293 photos of the path around the park while the kids tried to be at all of the exercise stations. I used a different method with these pictures for connecting and uploading them. Tourmake.net has an app called Viewmake and they are doing a promotion of free uploads to Google Street View through July 31, 2019. So, I figured I would give it a try. With some issues apparently pertaining to their own restriction for non-subscribers, I was able to get them connected and uploaded.    My dad mentioned that there used to be a trailer park there. So, […]

Kayla and I were exploring Downtown Roanoke. We would have been in the art museum, but they are not open on Mondays and Tuesdays, so we went to the Transportation Museum, http://www.vmt.org/. Last time I was there they let me in for free for being in the military, this time only a discount. No matter, we checked it out and took some photos. For some reason, some of these keep losing their connections, but there should be 83 photos in total. Some were taken through broken windows of trailers not open to public.

Was a nice sunny day and I wanted to get the recently finished Garden City Greenway on the map. So, from one end of Garden City Blvd to the other, about 2 miles and 738 photos. I did these a little different than previous photos by strapping the camera to my back and editing the nadir to take myself out. This makes them more like actual Street View images, but to me it makes them feel a bit tall at about 7 1/2 feet off the ground. Was also a bad idea to do them on Wednesday, which happens to be trash pickup for the area. However, looking at the satellite view of the area, it must have been done […]

Last month I signed up for a campaign through a word of mouth network called The Insiders (http://www.theinsidersnet.com). At first I was skeptical, as they require a deposit to test a product and expect you to post reviews around the internet. The deposit is only half the price of the product and you have 5 weeks to either keep them for that price or return them for a refund. Once you fill out the survey, pay the deposit, they then select who they want and send the product. One product I signed up for were the Samsung Gear Icon X wireless headphones. The headphones showed up, brand new, with a warranty document to act as a receipt for Samsung warranty […]
